Hey, folks. It’s Josh. I’ve been super busy these past couple of months working on our HFHS project house. As we mentioned in our last update, the house is coming along, and we can’t wait to share more with you soon. We’ve learned a LOT while working on this project! One task we recently completed was painting all of the interior. A lot more goes into painting than you might guess, so I thought it would be fun to share a thorough breakdown of everything we encountered and learned as we painted this house. If you have any big painting projects in your future, I highly recommend you check out some of these tips and lessons we learned so hopefully your project goes smoothly.

Prep work for old homes can be especially difficult. Poor prep work on an exterior will mean needing to re-paint sooner (sometimes literally within 1-2 years), which will cost far more time and money than doing it correctly in the first place. In fact, a good professional paint company may use more than half of the entire project time preparing a surface to paint. Trust the process; this time could be difference in hundreds of hours and dollars.
Professional house painting contractors in Westminster provide their clients with estimates that will primarily be based upon the square footage of the home. For exterior painting services, Westminster house painting normally starts from $3,734 and will be changed depending on the square footage, number of stories and accessibility of the house to the work to be done. A house with warped wall or rough texture may cost more to paint than one with a flat surfaced house wall. As a resident, you know that life in the ATL is never dull. We have a diverse community, thriving business scene and world-class culture, all of which residents and visitors take advantage. Everything about life here is fast-paced, from our growing population to our economic expansion. And yet, the city’s suburbs still manage to feel homey and relaxed to those who live here. Maybe it’s the Southern charm, or maybe we’re just used to it.
Oh wow, this looks like SO much work! I guess I have been renting in big cities for so long and not painting myself. However, any time my family does they DIY – and it’s always a much better, more creative job than when they pay someone!! The whole house is your canvas =) Gerilyn Larsen February 25, 2015
“I highly recommend A Able Painting. They were very professional from the estimator who came to my home, to the associates on the phone and the actual painters. They all did a great job. My house looks great!”

Q: I’ve been hearing a lot about low-VOC and no-VOC paints. What are they? Should I consider using them? A: VOCs, or volatile organic compounds, are chemicals that emit potentially harmful gasses when applied and over time. Paint, lacquer, varnish, paint thinners and paint strippers often contain these chemicals. In recent years, paints with lower concentrations of these toxic compounds have become available. There are also some paint brands that offer products with no VOC content. These natural paints and finishes are durable, cost effective and less harmful. Talk with your painting contractor and ask if they are familiar with low-VOC paints and whether they would recommend them for your home.
